Consumer Behavior: It's the Little Things

The beginning of the school year always means buying the infamous textbooks that cost more than they probably should. Luckily, there are great ways to save some cash by using Chegg. I used Chegg for the first time this semester and I have some things to say about it.

First, Chegg was very efficient and quick in getting me my order. It took about three days for my book to arrive which was lightning speed compared to other online retailers. During those three days, Chegg gave me access to the online book for free, so I could keep up with the homework being given. This little something extra really shed some more positive light on the company for me.

Secondly, when I opened my package not only was the book in there, but some small goodies! There was a sample of Tide detergent and an energy drink for those late night cram sessions. I thought this was an outstanding idea on Chegg's part. They are giving their consumers (college students) small things that they might need throughout the school year. This demonstrates that they have really thought about the consumer and taken their wants into consideration.

What I really found interesting was that I wasn't the only one who noticed Chegg's successful attempt to gain their customer's satisfaction. I live in a sorority house with about 80 other women. The first week of school there was at least one Chegg box each day. One of my sisters was talking about her books and she asked if anyone else had gotten the goodies. We all had and she was quick to say that it is the little things in life that make people happy. This statement really impacted me. If all company's focused on the little things they could make a lot of their consumers extremely happy. It is amazing to me that something as small as a Tide detergent sample and one energy drink could make such a difference. Company's need to take note!!!!
