Hello! Spring break is coming up in a few weeks and I have been searching high and low for a book to read on the beach. I have realized that as I get older I no longer want to read those cheesy teen romance novels. I want to read something beautiful. Something that will change my life for the better and make an impact.
As I go through this leadership class I am learning more about myself. Unfortunately, I have become aware that I take every day for granted. I live life by large milestones instead of finding the beauty in everyday. Well, no more.
Having breast cancer education and awareness as my philanthropy has really opened my eyes to the strength and courage of women. These women who have survived and are currently battling breast cancer are super heroes. They may not be wearing capes or fancy masks, but it still counts! :) It is truly inspiring to hear such amazing stories coming from extraordinary women.
So, for my beach read this year I have chosen Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy by Geralyn Lucas. I have heard wonderful things about the book, but have yet to pick it up. It is a story of a young woman who seems to have everything going for her, until her breast cancer diagnosis. It is about finding true beauty and living in the now instead of being fearful of the future.
I am hoping that this book will teach me a little bit about leadership in my own life. I want to take control and live unforgettably because ultimately life is too short for anything less! Look for a review in the next few weeks :) Have a wonderful day.
