How to Make it Through Finals

Hello everyone!! I hope the start of your week has been wonderful!

I am in college, and usually this time of year is the most dreaded... finals week. Finals are stressful for everyone and it is hard to make it through them unscathed.

I would like to share with you some of my tips to help you make it through. These tips have helped me throughout my 3 years of college and maybe they will help you as well.

Tip #1- Eat Breakfast

This is probably the oldest one in the book, but I can't tell you how much it has helped me. If you have an early final you will need some brain power. Have a great breakfast like eggs or oatmeal right before to ensure you do your best and your stomach isn't interrupting your test time!

Tip #2- Get Enough Sleep

This is an oldie, but a goodie. Make sure you are getting a full night's sleep each night. I know most people stay up all night cramming, but this only hurts you in the end. You cannot perform to the best of your ability unless you let your brain rest! Give yourself enough time to get some sleep and you will wake up feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the day.

Tip #3- Take Study Breaks

I think I have mentioned this in a post before, but I am going to mention it again! If you plan on studying for the duration of the day make sure you throw in some 20 minute study breaks. You could go for a walk, do some yoga, listen to music, or chat with some friends. Do something that will take your mind off of things for awhile!

Tip #4- Find a Quiet Place

Make sure you are studying in a place that is quiet where you can concentrate. I find it hard to study in my room because there are a lot of distractions and I just want to talk to my roommate. Go to the library or somewhere without any of those inhibitors so that you can accomplish what is needed.

Tip #5- Prioritize

It is important to prepare for all of your finals, but some may have more weight. If I am doing poorly in a class compared to the others I will study for that one a lot earlier on to ensure I have ample time. Make sure you are prioritizing your time, so you can study enough for each test.

Tip #6- Ask For Help

If you and your roommate both have finals ask for their help! They can test you on things you don't know and you can do the same for them! It is a great way to escape from some of the subject matter you have been focusing on.

Tip #7- Drink Water

During finals week it is imperative that you stay healthy so that you perform your best. Everyone tells you to drink water and that is because it is so important! You want to make sure you stay hydrated so that you aren't sluggish and tired throughout your exams.
